Answers to Common Questions about VoIP
What is VoIP?
VoIP is an acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol, which simply means phone service over the internet. If you have a good internet connection, you can have VoIP. VoIP is a non-regulated service, so we can offer it to you for less than a traditional phone service.
Can I keep my phone number?
Most of the time, your current phone number can be successfully ported to our VoIP Phone Service. However, occasionally there may be “hiccups” in the process. If you’re coming from another provider, we’ll take a close look and advise you.
Do I need a new phone?
This will depend on what type of phone you currently have. Just tell us the make and model, and we’ll let you know if it’s a VoIP-compatible phone. Many of our VoIP Phone Service customers are able to keep using their current phone.
Is additional equipment needed?
You will need to have wireless internet inside your home. Some customers may also need a small device called an ATA.
